My First Blog and Why I’m Writing One?!

I thought I would start a blog (many times before actually starting it!) so that I can share my journey and learning to hopefully inspire and help other people who are out on similar journeys.

Whether you are creating an online business, a property business, an education business, any business(!), out to transform your health & fitness, running marathons, being vegan, protecting the planet, charity work or balancing work/business, your own goals & family – I have and am experiencing this all and will share what works, didn’t work, tips, personal experiences & anything else that crosses my mind to help you in what you are out to achieve.

So to start, a little background:
  • I'm not a professional writer – sometimes I may be backwards in how I write things and a lot of the time I’ll be straight to the point – I will try to improve my style as I go to make it readable and enjoyable
  • I am a qualified management accountant, working for 13 years in a day job before quitting and being a serial entrepreneur with my wife Catherine
  • We (my wife and I) own an online ecommerce business, a serviced accommodation business, a property investment business and an online business education business.
  • I am likely to own more businesses in the future as partnerships develop – I am currently considering an interesting vegan restaurant business plan (let me know if you’re interested)
  • I (with my mum) run an annual charity sports day to raise money for a special needs schools Discovery Club so they can enjoy more days out. I also raise money for charities when I’m racing.
  • I have a little one on the way, due in September
  • I have a plan to get down to a 4 hour work week by August ready for when our little one arrives – this is scheduled in the diary along with a celebration for when I achieve it
  • I have a small team around me of VAs, PA & a (busy) Property Manager
  • I get a lot of my good blog ideas in the sauna – typically when I do not have anything to record what I’m thinking!
  • I’m usually in the sauna after the gym, I’m currently training (mostly upside-down) with a PT towards a handstand push-up! I could barely do a headstand at the beginning of 2017 and I’m making progress.
  • I run and play football a lot during the week. I’ve ran the Las Vegas and London Marathons.
  • I learn a lot from courses, audible (usually when I’m running), doing (& failing) & coaches/mentors

I’m not sure what else to share in this first blog (or even how long a blog should be – I should look into this). Anyway, my new website has been designed to show anyone what I’m up to so you can either; be inspired, get involved, ask questions (that I could possibly cover in future blogs), see what’s possible, or straight up ignore. I’ll write and post a weekly blog and share as much value as I can.

To start with, I’ll share what my future 4 hour work week (4HWW) looks like:

My 4 Hour Work Week Template

Monday 21st August          7-8am       Assess new investments/business
Tuesday 22nd August        10-10:30   Reply to PA on emails etc
Wednesday 23rd August    6-7pm       Run online coaching
Thursday 24th August       10-10:30    Reply to PA on emails etc
Friday 25th August            7-8am        Blog & RAP (Review, Analyse & Plan)

The countdown to my 4HWW is well on its way and I have 7 weeks left to achieve it, and am fully committed to get there even though it currently feels a bit of a tight deadline. In next weeks blog I’ll share the steps I’m taking to make this possible and the work I’ve put in to get to this stage.

Please let me know your thoughts, what you’d like more of (or less of) and I’ll do my best to make this blog worth your time.

Thanks for reading,

p.s. I’m not a techie so if this manages to actually get in front of people for them to read it then wahoo – I’ve done something right – give me a thumbs up or comment of how you found it so I can see what more I can do next time. Cheers
